RIGHT TO HAVE A FATHER…My daughter’s future is in jeopardy…
To whom it may concern:
Good day!
I am a Filipino (born and haven’t been outside the Philippines) who had a daughter with an Indian guy last April 2008. For some personal reasons the father didn’t sign our daughter’s birth certificate which is already filed in the Civil Registry Office in Pasig City. Therefore, my daughter’s birth certificate has no (zero) information regarding her father.
Last February 2009, my daughter’s father who is an Indian National has been granted a CANADIAN Citizenship and now using a Canadian passport and all other working identifications stating that he is Canadian. We’re still living together and finally, he has decided to give his name to our daughter and we want to fix our daughter’s birth certificate.
I would like to ask about the following:
1. How or what are the steps to fill-out my daughter’s birth certificate regarding the FATHER columns. What will be the requirements to have this accomplished?
2. Can we fill-out the “citizenship” of the father as CANADIAN? If so, can we also make our daughter Canadian?
3. My daughter is using my middle and last name on her birth certificate. How do we change my daughter’s Middle name to my last name and her Last name to her father’s last name? What are the requirements for this?
4. For all the different procedures that we have to go through, how much will it cost us? and how long will it take?
5. Is it possible that we can get a new birth certificate for our daughter and void the one filed in the civil registrar instead of amending it?
My daughter has THE RIGHT TO HAVE A FATHER and her birth certificate is and forever will be her first and most valuable identity and therefore, I want to fix it so that she will have all and every legal rights regarding her father.
Thank you very, very much for helping me.
God speed!
